The modular Catalyst 2820 series switches are the ideal solution for Ethernet workgroups and individual users who need increased performance at an affordable price, and provide 100BaseT, Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI), or Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) connectivity to servers and network backbones. The modules connect the Catalyst 2820 switches directly to 100BaseT, FDDI, and ATM backbones over UTP or fiber cabling. In this configuration, workgroup switch can be connected directly to Cisco routers or other Catalyst switches via FDDI, ATM, or 100BaseT.
