New 10/100 Ethernet Analyzer Switches maximize monitoring effectiveness. These non-blocking SpyderSwitches enable a protocol analyzer to perform real-time monitoring and analysis across multiple networks. Span Port SpyderSwitches connect directly to span ports on major manufacturers' network switches, such as Cisco's Catalyst series. Because these Switches are not in-line, network traffic flows uninterrupted regardless of whether power is available to the Span Port Switch, or whether the Sniffer is in use. These Switches support all the functionality typically associated with span ports. In particular, because these Switches are able to transmit and receive data through a single port, these Switches support the "link confirmation" requirement found in many 10/100BaseT network switches. With the new PortRover software, network managers can name each network, plus have multiple options to control which network is being monitored. In the first method, switching between any of the monitoring ports is as simple as clicking on the software-based keypad. The next option is 'Automatic' mode, where the Sniffer continuously repeats cycles of monitoring each network for a predetermined period. Finally, a 'Custom' mode is offered, enabling users to create and save custom monitoring patterns.
