The 3Com Embedded Firewall Starter Policy Server is a ten-client version of the embedded firewall management software. It supports the same feature set as the 1, 000-client version, and likewise is required to configure and manage 3Com Firewall PCI and PC Cards (sold separately). This cost-saving version lets IT staff test-run embedded firewalls on a smaller scale. It's also convenient for securing smaller networks. The policy server and firewall-client cards extend centrally managed, hardware-enforced security to notebooks, desktops, and servers across the organization - inside and outside the network perimeter. Together, they deliver superior tamper-resistance that software-only firewalls can't match. The 3Com Embedded Firewall Starter Policy Server cost-effectively and reliably secures telecommuter systems and mobile notebooks, supporting different levels of protection for internal and external connections. It automatically enforces tighter protection when firewall clients located outside the perimeter firewall initiate network connections. The 3Com Embedded Firewall Starter Policy Server secures open Internet connections such as VPN end points and broadband gateways; hardens web servers, DMZ subnets, public kiosks, and confidential databases against unauthorized access.
