The Snap Server 2200 from Snap Appliance delivers cross-platform file sharing right out of the box in mixed Windows, NetWare, UNIX, Linux, and Macintosh environments. Just plug in the power and RJ-45 Ethernet cable, and turn it on. The auto-sensing 10/100 Ethernet connection detects the appropriate bandwidth and automatically connects to all supported networking protocols. No additional configuration of network servers or clients is required. The dual disks are easily configured to provide RAID 1 (mirroring) data protection, or the default configuration, RAID 0 (striping, no parity) on Just a Bunch of Disks (JBOD). In addition, the Kensington Security Slot lets you lock down your Snap Server 2200 for enhanced physical data security. The Snap Server 2200 delivers flexible RAID options at an attractive price point. RAID 1 provides total drive redundancy through mirroring. RAID 0 offers approximately a 20% performance benefit over RAID 1, but no data protection. JBOD allows for disk configuration flexibility and physical data separation between the two drives for data security. This is all available through Adaptec's award-winning user interface, making administration simpler and less time-consuming than any general-purpose server. Self Monitoring and Reporting Technology (SMART) constantly monitors hard drive health, so in the event a drive fails, instant email alerts help you take quick action and keep your business running. The Snap Server 2200 relieves your laptop and desktop backup headaches. Free Symantec PowerQuest DataKeeper software (unlimited user license) provides constant backup of desktop files. Laptop files are backed up to local drives while disconnected from the network, then are automatically saved to the Snap Server 2200 when the laptop is reconnected to the network. Instant Network Storage and Add a 500GB file server to your network in minutes, with zero down time. The 2200 is an ideal file server for remote offices, for home offices with valuable data, and for small businesses that do not want the difficulties of managing a general-purpose server. It is even small enough to be portable! Software Distribution and Drive Store software updates or frequently-used configurations on a Snap Server 2200 and distribute them with the available Server-to-Server (S2S) Synchronization software or Symantec PowerQuest V2i Protector software.
