The IRMA 3270 PCI Adapter was the first 3270 emulation adapter produced to exploit the high performance and ease of installation of the PCI bus. The IRMA 3270 PCI adapter provides cost effective, highly reliable connections between PCs and host mainframes. The IRMA 3270 PCI adapter is fully PCI v2.1, PnP compatible, virtually eliminating installation hassles. The PC’s BIOS and operating system automatically assign and reconfigure resources when new hardware is installed. Plug and Play installation makes troubleshooting resource conflicts and configuring jumpers and DIP switches obsolete. The IRMA 3270 PCI adapter is designed around Attachmate’s Coax Integrated Processor (CIP) chip, a sophisticated microprocessor designed specifically for handling 3270 communications. This highly integrated ASIC greatly reduces circuit components and design complexity, leading to higher reliability, while the CIP’s internal micro-code supports CUT, DFT and 87E emulation modes.
