The Compaq 4/8 GB SLR Tape Drive is made for people who need a highly reliable 4GB to 8GB solution with a low total cost of ownership. A proven platform, single-channel linear recording (SLR) is a fifth generation technology. The SLR technology implements a similar recording method to Compaq high end tape using linear serpentine track recording which will offer a highly reliable drive for the entry level server market. The Compaq SLR Tape Drive features backward compatibility to older tapes and growth to future products ranging from 125MB to 32GB, making the Compaq 4/8 GB SLR Tape Drive a best growth choice! Plus, data cartridge media offers more than 10-year data retention - an important requirement for long term archival storage of critical data.
