D-Link DSL-300G ADSL modem provides simple and quick connection to an ADSL broadband line. This modem provides an auto-sensing 10/100Mbps dual-speed Fast Ethernet for connection to a PC, Macintosh, server or another host. With speed support of up to 8Mbps, a wide range of compatibility, easy installation and a tiny price tag, this modem takes your Internet and WAN connection to a new level of convenience and simplicity. The ADSL modem features ANSI T1.413 issue 2, G.dmt modulation for speeds of up to 8Mbps downstream and 1 Mbps upstream. G.lite is also supported, allowing up to 1.5Mbps downstream and 512Kbps upstream. G.lite is sufficient for most Internet applications today, and has the advantage of not requiring the installation of a splitter at the subscriber end. The modem auto-senses the connection type and auto-negotiates the best modulation scheme, G.dmt or G.lite using the G.hs (handshake) protocol. Your ADSL modem operates over the existing telephone wire and does not require any new transmission media. The modem makes possible high-speed multimedia services, Internet access, and video conferencing for you, using a standard copper phone line. This ADSL modem supports both "always on" and dial-up connections to ISP. "Always-on" eliminates the need to dial to ISP and is ideal for applications like IP telephony. Dial-up connection lets you save ISP charge, it allows you to disconnect from the Internet when you don't need to use it. This modem connects to your PC, Macintosh, server, Internet gateway or other hosts through a 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet interface, commonly found in most computer equipment today. It auto-senses the host's Ethernet interface and auto-negotiates for highest available speed. Easy configuration is provided through its Web-based configuration menu. Management compatibility is also provided with built-in MIBs for SNMP management from any third-party platform. Unlike traditional analog and cable modems, ADSL does not use shared bandwidth, a phenomenon that reduces connection speed as more users get on-line. With ADSL, the entire bandwidth is dedicated to a single connection. Regular telephone service uses only a tiny portion of the actual capacity of a conventional telephone line, while ADSL uses the remaining bandwidth for high-speed data transfer. This is accomplished by setting different frequency channels for different functions, so that voice communication occurs at the lower end of the frequency spectrum, while data transmission takes place at higher frequencies. The modem makes possible simultaneous voice and data transmission. It also lets you download lengthy documents and graphics files quickly.
