The PortServer CM 32 provides secure and easy console port management for UNIX servers, routers and switches in a 1U rack-mountable solution. Its unique features and embedded Linux OS make it the ideal console management solution. The PortServer CM 32 incorporates Secure Shell (SSH v2 or v1), a robust, standards-based security protocol, to protect against monitoring, i.e. sniffing, by unauthorized users. The PortServer CM 32 restricts access to approved users through the use of the firewall functionality of the IP filtering feature. Port triggers and alerts allow the administrator to monitor ports for any text string, and send an email alert when the specified text comes across the port. This speeds recovery time and increases network and server uptime. Multi-level menus allow network administrators to control access to ports based on specific users or groups. These menus provide added security in multi-user environments. Auto-Discovery and Configuration feature allows the administrator to set the IP address and other network information from any browser, without having to load a program from a CD. Simply plug in the PortServer CM 32 and open up a browser. A small Java applet automatically finds all PortServer CM 32 products on the network and easily sets the IP addresses. Port buffering allows system administrators to capture important information from each port for troubleshooting in the event of a problem. Captured data may be stored locally or on another host, using the syslog or an NFS mounted partition.
