Compaq StorageWorks AIT 50 GB tape drive delivers high capacity, high reliability, and high performance in a small form factor. No bigger than a standard-sized hard disk drive, the AIT 50 GB drive can be mounted in a half height drive bay. This allows the AIT 50 GB drive to be installed even in high-density rack models of ProLiant and AlphaServer systems where drive height is a concern. With optimized information access features, the AIT 50 GB Advanced Intelligent Tape Drive extends capacity and performance where DAT tape technology ends. AIT is designed to handle the ongoing explosion of data storage requirements. Advanced Metal Evaporated media aids in providing a tape drive that needs minimal cleaning and virtually no head clogging. This drive has a mean time before failure (MTBF) rating of 300, 000 hours at a 30 percent duty cycle.
