The MQSeries Adapter Kernel is executable code specific to a platform. It provides generic support for adapters such as message creation, parsing, and error logging, as well as the interface to MQSeries messaging. In addition, for installations without MQSeries Integrator, the Kernel supports a simple, static routing mechanism through which transactions (messages) can be routed from one originator to one or more receivers. The benefit of the Adapter Kernel is that it contains the code common to all adapters and therefore reduces the amount of application-specific code needed in an adapter. Use entitlement associated with the MQSeries Adapter Kernel takes the form of a server install enabling use of an instance of the run-time Kernel on a server, and separate authorization to use adapters within the run-time Kernel. An adapter enables one message to be processed inbound or outbound, to or from an application. A Proof of Entitlement is required for each and every adapter used, whether it be developed directly by the customer or provided by a third party.
