Panasonic's new SC-PM22 micro component system includes big audio features - such as high-quality CD players and digital synthesizer AM/FM tuners - in a package compact enough to fit on a bookshelf or nightstand. Powerful music delivery is guaranteed with Panasonic's Super Woofer technology, which uses a bi-amp design to effectively boost bass power. Because it is driven by its own amplifier (as are each of the main speakers), the woofer is able to deliver rich, virtually distortion-free bass, while the main speakers accurately reproduce the mid/high range. Complementing this technology is Sound Virtualizer that creates a sound field with distinct stereo imaging and exceptional depth, while keeping vocals well centered. This feature is activated with the included remote control. The SC-PM22 contains a high-quality front-loading CD player with one-touch play and is equipped with the exclusive MASH one-bit digital-to-analog converter, allowing faithful reproduction of all the subtle sounds that enrich digital music. In addition, the player's digital servo system helps it play through minor scratches, fingerprints and other flaws that might otherwise cause skipping or prevent the disc from playing.If you'd rather listen to your favorite radio station, this micro audio system can come to your aid. It contains quartz synthesized digital tuners, so that once a station is selected, it won't drift from that frequency. The digital tuner on the SC-PM22 can store 30 stations (15-AM, 15-FM) in memory for recall at the touch of a button. The SC-PM22 also includes a feather-touch, auto reverse tape deck that offers simple, reliable operation. The auto reverse deck also makes quick work of fast forwarding and rewinding to desired tracks with TPS (tape program search). Of course, key to any system's performance are the speakers. The micro component system's speakers boast wooden cabinets, along with baffles composed of medium density fiberboard (MDF). The rounded baffles minimize diffraction for excellent imaging and more focused sound, while the wooden cabinets and MDF composition allow for solid bass and excellent frequency response. The speakers on step-up model SC-PM22 have advanced Ta-Ke II (tah-kay) capacitors for exceptionally clean audio. These audiophile capacitors use bamboo fiber for exceptional sound clarity and natural yet powerful audio. The capacitor also features a spiral copper coil around the aluminum case, helping eliminate audible distortion while increasing high-range transparency, for an overall improvement in mid-high range fidelity. For striking visual appeal, the SC-PM22 have a high-quality silver finish, with light oak look speakers and graphical, blue LCD displays. The SC-PM22 has a Power Glide Control Panel, which conceals the controls for a clean look when functions are not being changed.
