The 3Com OfficeConnect Cable/DSL Gateway lets small businesses and growing home or branch-office networks bring shared Internet connectivity to multiple users via industry-standard Ethernet. The gateway contains a four-port Ethernet/Fast Ethernet LAN switch, plus an Ethernet WAN port for connecting to an existing broadband modem. Robust IP addressing and authentication functions deliver router-like features but at attractive prices. The unit comes with preset defaults, setup wizards, automatic upgrade capabilities, and other features that simplify installation, configuration, and administration for nontechnical users.
