The 3Com OfficeConnect Cable/DSL Gateway is a high quality, easy-to-use small office gateway router allowing up to 253 wired PCs and laptops to share a single broadband Internet connection. Designed for small offices, branch offices, and the home office, the gateway router gives users 3Com reliability and includes Network Address Translation (NAT), and Hacker-Pattern Detection, to help keep networks secure. Ease of use is supported by device discovery and other setup wizards, preset defaults, and an intuitive browser-based user interface. Features such as IP routing and firewall privacy combined with an integrated 10/100 four-port switch make it an ideal solution for small office broadband Internet sharing. The OfficeConnect Cable/DSL Gateway can use Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) as well as Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE), for ease of authentication in popular DSL-based ISP networks, and it supports basic Ethernet options used by many cable-based networks. It permits VPN pass-through using the popular Microsoft Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) and industry-standard IP Security (IPSec). Finally, the OfficeConnect Cable/DSL Gateway is easy for non-technical users to set up and maintain.
