Offering users faster connectivity than traditional access technologies, the HomeConnect ADSL Modem PCI features a downstream line rate of up to 8 Mbps and an upstream line rate of up to 1 Mbps. Its always-on access eliminates the wait time associated with dial-up modems, and the exceptional downstream bandwidth eliminates the lengthy delays associated with downloading large documents or images. Best of all, the HomeConnect ADSL Modem PCI works over existing phone lines so users don't have to invest in additional lines for data access. The HomeConnect ADSL Modem PCI is built on the industry-standard Discrete Multi-Tone (DMT) line coding specification to ensure interoperability with the leading Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer (DSLAM) and Digital Loop Carrier (DLC) vendors. Because 3Com supports this standard, users will be able to connect easily to their residential broadband service providers. 3Com offers the investment protection you need. The HomeConnect ADSL Modem PCI can support either full rate G.992.1 (G.dmt) or splitterless G.992.2 (G.lite) standards via software updates-no hardware changes are necessary. What's more, this modem features exclusive Instant Update capability. If technology improvements occur, the modem's software automatically determines where the improvement applies and asks users if they wish to take advantage of the update.
