The BCM5782 controller is part of the Broadcom NetXtreme 570x family. The BCM5782 incorporates fifth-generation, field-proven 10/100/1000BASE-T Broadcom technology that combines a triple-speed IEEE 802.3-compliant media access controller (MAC) with a triple-speed Ethernet transceiver (transmitter/receiver), a 32-bit PCI bus interface, and an on-chip buffer memory in a single-chip solution. The Broadcom BCM5782 NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet controller includes advanced enterprise-class functions that are ideally suited for enterprise desktop applications. Featured within the BCM5782 is an integrated graphical user interface (GUI) application called the Broadcom Advanced Control Suite (BACS). This comprehensive software suite allows administrators to obtain status reports on all Local Area Network (LAN) adapters and controllers in the enterprise, confirm network connectivity with remote users, quickly diagnose and rectify nearly all network related problems, and perform an in-depth CAT5 cable characterization analysis.
