The CardMan reader allows a secure use of home banking, e-commerce, digital signatures, Single Sign On, cash cards, e-mails and certificate-based authorization. Many Utimaco Safeware products (SafeGuard Sign&Crypt, SafeGuard Advanced Security, SafeGuard LAN Crypt and SafeGuard VPN) utilize the advantages of the CardMan reader. Access control and online security are becoming more and more important. In this context, smartcards provide the optimum solution: You do not only have a private key on the card, but also have individual protection by means of a PIN (or a fingerprint - SafeGuard Biometrics). Absolutely secure access control (authentication) for access to sensitive information can be used for a variety of applications, such as logging man-hours or electronic payment in a corporate restaurant. The CardMan reader product family allows the connection of a smartcard to any PC and notebook. The following software interfaces are currently available: PC/SC, CT-API and the Utimaco Safeware CardMan API. Furthermore, CardMan is also compatible with the Home Banking Computer Interface (HBCI). The power-ful API allows system integrators and software vendors to easily integrate the CardMan reader into their own applications. CardMan readers provide reliable performance in the application fields of PC security, Internet security, e-commerce, home banking, credit card transactions, access control, GSM applications and PKI. The CardMan Dongle is a mobile, 6 cm mini-reader with a USB connector on one side and a SIM card port (ISO 7816-ID000 smartcard) on the other. The product is ideal for all smartcard-based applications such as downloading new GSM applications to the SIM card via Internet or mobile payment transactions.
